Pocketknives

I’ve wanted a reason to write something about pocketknives for a while. This blog and Christmas fast approaching have provided me with the perfect motives. Not only do I feel that the pocketknife is the most useful tool someone can own, but it may very well be the ideal Christmas gift as well … at least for an outdoorsman.

The great thing about pocketknives is that there are so many varieties to choose from that it is relatively simple to find one that suits a person’s needs, likes, and style. Ultimately, you are looking for one that will be most useful while convenient to carry. I’ve always opted for the Swiss Army or Boy Scout style knife, that contains various tools such as: a knife, a can opener, a bottle opener, a screwdriver, a leather punch, a pair of tweezers, and even a toothpick. I guess I’ve just grown accustomed to having a small toolbox at the ready everywhere I go. Others may prefer a simpler, single-blade knife that can be used for things such as opening a letter, cutting an extra hole in your belt, stripping wire, carving a fishing lure … you get the idea.
